On Friday, a co-worker and I headed out for lunch in search of some Greek food. We settled in at Taverna Opa and ordered a trio of dips to start. So good…especially with soft, warm pita bread. For my main meal, I ordered a Mediterranean salad (greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, lots of walnuts, figs, goat cheese, and clementines). Don’t be fooled by that picture – this salad was huge and incredibly filling.
(Awkward selfie take 1000)
After work, I headed to the salon for a haircut…well, more like a trim. My stylist and I decided to keep going with the bang thing we started last time. Part of me wishes I had stuck with face farming layers only. Oh well, it’s just hair…it’ll grow back.
Both Vishnu and I took the time to enjoy a cup of coffee on Saturday morning before jumping into our own routines.
By the way, this creamer is really good. A little bit goes a long way.
I made a last minute stop at Whole Foods on Saturday afternoon because I really, really wanted to try a juice from the juice bar. The funny thing is that I hardly ever get food cravings (except for chocolate), so I had felt like I had to oblige! The lady behind the counter said that the kale, banana, pineapple, spinach, and OJ juice is the most popular so I went with that one. Best green juice ever. The only thing holding me back from making this a regular splurge is the price tag. A 20 ounce juice costs almost $8. What!?!
Vishnu’s aunt, uncle and two little cousins stayed with us on Saturday night. They were vacationing in Puerto Rico for the past week and had an overnight layover in Fort Lauderdale. We took them to the only kid friendly restaurant we know of for dinner – Lime Fresh. Ha! In all honesty, the original plan was to head over to Las Olas for a “nicer” dinner, but by the time we got home from the airport and were ready to eat, it was late and the kids were tired.
Dessert was a no brainer since Yogurtland was right next door!
Since their flight wasn’t until 4:30 pm on Sunday, we took our time getting ready. Vishnu’s aunt and I actually got into a conversation about healthy eating and different recipes. And when I told her about Katie’s brownies, she was shocked by the main ingredient. So of course I had to make a batch for them to try. If you haven’t made these yet, do so ASAP – they’re super fudgy and chocolaty.
Our local farmer’s market has a petting zoo in the back, so we headed there after showering and getting ready. The kids loved feeding the animals! And boy were those animals hungry!
When we got home from the airport, I was on a mission to get ready for the work week. I prepared both mine and Vishnu’s lunches and ironed my clothes. I also set out my Best Body Bootcamp equipment for my morning workout. The eight week program started today! So excited to share more about this in the coming weeks.
Have a great Monday!
Tell me about your “weekend things.” Do anything fun?
