The thing I absolutely love about my relationship with Vishnu (and always have) is that I can be myself around him 100% of the time. I’m never ridiculed or judged for acting goofy or saying something silly. And the same goes for him. I actually love goofy Vishnu – always cracks me up!
So the other night, I brought up a topic that we’ve discussed a few times before – soul mates.
You see, I’m a pretty spiritual person. On the other hand, a lot of Vishnu’s beliefs are rooted in scientific theory. Not all, but some. Even with our different views, we agree on a lot, and at the very least, we agree to disagree.
I honestly didn’t know what would come of this conversation but here’s how it went…
P: Do you believe in soul mates?
V: …yes (as he shrugs his shoulders a little)
P: Do you think we’re soul mates?
V: …yes (as he looks at me with an uncomfortable look on his face)
P: Well, I honestly believe we are. I don’t know what it is but I feel connected to you…always have. Know what I mean?
V: I feel connected to you too, Par.
P: No, I’m talking about the kind of connection that links us together for eternity!! You’re stuck with me, babe! I’ll hunt you down if need be! (Laughing)
V: (holds my hand and continues to watch TV)
This is pretty typical for us when it comes to these types of conversations. But I still love that I can bring up the topic and state my view.
This past Saturday marked nine months of marriage for us (credit goes to my mom for actually remembering – Vishnu and I didn’t even think about it), and once again I was reminded of all the reasons why I’m one of the luckiest people in the world. With the #1 reason being…
…I married my soul mate.
