A Semi-Lazy Weekend

written by Parita 5 Comments

After a few packed weekends, this one unintentionally ended up being very lazy in most every way.  Not that I’m complaining or anything!  Vishnu and I know that in a few short months our weekends will look different…very different.

FRIDAY

Friday night included a simple dinner + a few episodes of Iron Fist, a Netflix show based on the Marvel comic.  Vishnu was shocked when I sat down with him to watch and actually stayed seated.  Ha!

SATURDAY

Saturday morning started a little bit later than I expected (perhaps due to one too many Iron Fist episodes!).  Vishnu and I spent the better part of an hour laying in bed feeling the baby move!  So much fun and a little strange to be honest.

After going back and forth on what to eat, I decided to make my Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Muffins.  The perfect Saturday morning breakfast.

After a few more episodes of Iron Fist (Netflix and it’s continuous play, I tell you!), we finally peeled ourselves off the couch and made our way to Target and the grocery store.

While shopping, I asked Vishnu if he wanted to indulge a little, and when he said yes, I took him straight to the ice cream aisle.

Once we got home, we settled in, made dinner, indulged in some delicious ice cream, and watched a few more episodes of…you guessed it…Iron Fist. 🙂

SUNDAY

After sitting around most of the weekend, Vishnu and I wanted to kick Sunday off with a trip to the gym.  The EFX machine, free weights, and I had a fun little date!

Of course, sweaty workouts call for protein shakes.

Sunday also calls for deep cleaning.  Vishnu and I divided and subsequently conquered everything in just under an hour.   Love me some good team work!

I ran a few errands in the afternoon, Vishnu and I watched the last few episodes of Iron Fist, and then we eventually made our way to a dinner date with my sister and Adarsh (more on this meal coming to The Blissful Veggie very soon!).

And that was our semi-lazy weekend in a nutshell!  On to a packed work week…

Your turn – what did you do this weekend?  What was the last show you binge watched and actually enjoyed?

Time to Play Catch-up

written by Parita 10 Comments

After yet another week away, I’m home!  And now it’s time to play catch-up.

1. The wedding we attended in North Carolina was an absolute blast.  From the minute we got to the hotel on Saturday to the minute we left on Monday, it was one big non-stop party.  I wish all of our close friends lived next door.  How great would that be!

2. My work trip to Chicago was a lot of fun.  I don’t get to see many of my coworkers all that often, so it was nice to reconnect.  More often than not, we were reconnecting over food…and lots of it.  I didn’t take many pictures of my meals, but trust me when I say that we pretty much ate all the food.  Every meal included glasses of wine, a variety of appetizers, our main meal, and dessert.  The best thing I ate was definitely the turtle brownie sundae at Bridge House Tavern.  Yum.

3. I am happy to report that this past weekend was full of nothingness.  On Saturday, we slept in, watched four episodes of Boy Meets World, watched the Dawgs win (!!!), and lounged until dinnertime.  Around 8:00 pm, we met up with our friends Andy and Robin for dinner and fro-yo.  Our outing also included celebrity sightings.  Vishnu and Andy spotted Greg Oden and Shane Battier (Miami Heat players) walking to dinner with a group of friends.  Even though I had no idea who these two were, it was fun to see the guys so excited!

Since no one had any major post-dinner plans, we decided to make it a Taboo game night.  We ended up playing for 2.5 hours!  Unfortunately, Robin and I lost by one point.  I blame the wine.

Sunday included a lot of the usual – cleaning, grocery shopping, and football watching.

4. Best Body Bootcamp started today…thank goodness.  I am ready to buckle down and get my workouts and eating habits back on track.  Wish me luck!

5. I highly recommend that everyone watch this TED talk about The power of vulnerability by Brene Brown.  I also recommend that everyone read this article about the human body’s physiological response to exercise.  And finally, I recommend that everyone read this article about living a life of purpose.

I think all of the above brings us to the present day.  With that being said, have a great Monday!

Blogger Meetup

written by Parita 6 Comments

After a few busy weekends, it was nice to relax and take my time getting things done over the past couple of days.  Aside from the usual, I didn’t do much.  It was glorious!

My weekend motto!

Part of my lazy weekend included a blogger meetup with Nisha from Honey What’s Cooking!  She was vacationing in Miami this weekend and asked if I wanted to meet up. Of course I did!

I’ve been reading Nisha’s blog for a little over 1.5 years, so this was kind of a big deal.  This may sound a little strange, but I felt like we were old friends catching up over some gelato.  It wasn’t awkward at all (phew).  Nisha, her friend Anu, and I talked for almost 1.5 hours (how appropriate!).  It was no surprise that we were able to chat comfortably for so long.  Nisha is just how she appears on her blog – bubbly and fun!  We covered everything from work, husbands, family, kids, favorite blogs, summer plans, and more.  I can’t wait to meet again – hopefully Vishnu and I can make a trip up to NYC sometime soon.

Well, I don’t have much else to say.  In my opinion, that’s a good thing because it shows how simple my weekend really was!

With that, here’s a little message to start the work week off…a little inspiration if you will.

Be Better Than You Were Yesterday

Here’s to a great Monday!
