Home for the 2019 Holidays

It’s not too late to talk about our time in Atlanta, right? I hope not because I’m doing it!

So, as I mentioned in a previous blog post, we spent the days leading up to Christmas and a few days after in Atlanta. And if I’m being honest, this was one of my favorite trips home since Kaiden was born. HE was just the best – fun, playful, and just so damn cute! Even my mom agreed that this trip was fun because he was in a good mood 99% of the time.

So K and I flew down to Atlanta the Friday before Christmas. The flight was ok, as in Kaiden didn’t nap but he was fine (just a little seat kicking, but I’ll take that over a meltdown/tantrum). My parents picked us up from the airport. It took us almost 2 hours to get home! Atlanta traffic is no joke!

Our days at my parents’ house were filled with no real schedule but lots of good food, lots of playtime, and lots of fun! I was also able to squeeze in a couple of friend dates – dinner with some of my close college girlfriends and coffee with one of my besties!

We also squeezed in a visit with Santa at the mall. Get this, it was the same Santa as last year! Also, when asked what he wanted for Christmas this year, Kaiden said ‘yogurt.’ HAHA! Where do they come up with this stuff?!

We left my parents’ house on Christmas Eve and made our way over to Vishnu’s parents’ house. He actually arrived late in the evening that day, so Kaiden and I got a few hours with his parents until then.

We celebrated Christmas at Vishnu’s brother’s and fiance’s place, Niel and Neelam, with my parents, my in laws, and the majority of Neelam’s family. We ate some delicious home cooked food and sang karaoke. It was a blast!

The rest of our days were spent hanging out around the house and eating more yummy food!

I attended a cookie exchange party at my best friend Roshni’s house one night. So much fun! I made The Table of Spice’s eggless chocolate chip cookies. This is what dreams are made out of, people!

The next morning, we headed back out with K in tow to visit with Alina, Roshni’s baby girl! She was born back in September, but I hadn’t had the chance to hang with her yet! She’s just THE cutest!

And that pretty much wraps up our trip home at a high level! I’m so glad I had another week before work started back up because I definitely needed a vacation from our vacation!

And now we’re days into 2020! How did that happen? Let’s make it a great one!

How did you spend your holidays?

Weekend at Home + Holiday Vacay (!!!)

written by Parita Leave a Comment

Weekends spent at home (in Atlanta) with family are some of my favorites.  The pampering, the food, the lack of responsibility (even if only for a few days)…I love it all!  And this past weekend was no different.

I flew into Atlanta on Wednesday evening, worked from home on Thursday, took Friday off, and then spent my last night at Vishnu’s house.  While it was a super quick trip, I feel like I did a lot.

First of all (and most importantly), I ate a lot of my mom’s delicious food.  Nothing like momma’s home cooking.

I got a much needed pedicure.  MUCH NEEDED.

My mom and I went shopping and did some damage at the Banana Republic Factory Outlet.  I also bought a cute pair of booties at Target.

I spent good quality time with my parents.  They’re likely not going to like that I posted this picture, but I love it so much.  Cuties!

I played with my BIL’s girlfriend’s dog…Little Bum Bums (that’s her name!).  You guys, I’m not a dog person at all, but this little thing stole my heart when I first met her a couple of years ago and still has a strong grip on it.  She’s THE cutest!  In fact, whenever we spend time with her, I’m almost tempted to get one for myself.  Almost.

We spent time at Vishnu’s house with his family – talking, eating, laughing, and planning our trip to HAWAII!!!!  It’s official…tickets are booked!  So. Freaking. Excited.  More to come!

And now it’s Monday, and we’re back to reality!  Here’s to a good week ahead. 🙂

Welcome to the A!!!

I’m headed home (FL is home now) to Atlanta today!  WOO HOO!  Even though I’m really sad that Vishnu won’t be coming with me, I’m excited to see my family and friends.  This is my first visit since the wedding (almost 5 months)!

What a beautiful city!

I know time is going to fly.  So much to do in a week.  And I’m working remotely Monday-Wednesday, so time is a little more limited as it is.

Still there are so many things to look forward to…

  • Spending time with my mom, dad, and sister. CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THEIR FACES!!!
  • Hanging out with Vishnu’s mom for a couple of days.  His dad is in India right now, so it’ll be just us girls.
  • Attending a good friend’s wedding!  I love love…and weddings!
  • Seeing a lot of my friends at this wedding!  Can’t wait to celebrate!
  • Eating a ton of delicious Indian food.  My gosh how I’ve missed it!  I really need to work on my Indian cooking skills.  Maybe I’ll come back from this trip motivated to start.  Ha!
  • Spending Thanksgiving day with both of my families…minus Vishnu and his dad.  No worries – they’ll be there in spirit.  Not sure what the meal plan is (Indian food or American), but I do know that I’m going to make some chocolaty dessert for us to enjoy.

So yeah, that’s pretty much my plan.  Woot!  Can’t wait!  However, I’m pretty sure that the minute I land in Atlanta, I’m going to miss Vishnu and wish he were with me.  Stupid med school!  Oh well, December is right around the corner, and before I know it, we’ll be driving home together for Christmas!

Ok, time to pack and get some things done before my flight later today!  Have a wonderful weekend, y’all!

Where is home for you?  <— Atlanta has always been home for me until recently.  I’m still adjusting to Fort Lauderdale and Florida as a whole, but I think it’s safe to say that this is home now!
