Weekend Recap – Father’s Day 2020

written by Parita Leave a Comment

Friday

Friday, like every day, started off with a little Kaiden time. I love cuddling with him on the couch. Then I went grocery shopping. For some reason, I ended up with like 8 bags which meant four round trips to get all our stuff upstairs. I was so tired afterwards!

After putting everything away, I took a call with my boss and did some work.

The rest of the day involved a short nap (for Kaiden), some Frozen (because I just couldn’t say no to his sweet request), and pizza for dinner.

I’m sharing the ‘recipe’ on my IG page today!

Saturday

Saturday was interesting because I definitely fell asleep on the couch the night before and only made my way to our bed at 1 am. Where was Vishnu you may be wondering? He was working a moonlighting shift at the hospital. This is what happens when he isn’t home! This totally messed me up because I woke up at 6 totally exhausted and unable to fall back asleep. On top of that, I started my period. Recipe for disaster!

BUTTT…it ended up ok, other than all of us being tired. I was a little out of it most of the day. Kaiden didn’t nap, which left him cranky by the end of the day. And Vishnu was exhausted from his 14 hour shift as well.

We did end up having fun goofing around the house. Kaiden may have asked for Frozen again to which I said N.O. Ha! Luckily, he understood!

Other than that, the day was kinda…normal. Kaiden has been moving into threenager territory lately, and while it’s annoying, I still think he’s the sweetest little boy ever. I could do with a little less whining, fewer meltdowns, and no bedtime shenanigans (i.e. calling me back into his room at least 3x). But I LOVE HIM TO PIECES!

SUNDAY

Sunday, Father’s Day, started with breakfast. We then got ready to head outside to kick the soccer ball around and hunt for sticks (K’s fav thing to do right now).

We then came home and ate breakfast for lunch – hash browns, biscuits, and scrambled eggs – because our dad loves breakfast foods! A huge hit!

The rest of the day was pretty low-key. We talked to our own dads and hung out at home reading books, kicking balls, and generally wreaking havoc. HA!

I did manage to squeeze in a little nap that was much needed. Don’t know why, but even after a full night’s rest, I was EXHAUSTED!

Anyways, that was our Father’s Day 2020 weekend in a nutshell.

For those of you who may be new readers, I share a lot of our weekends in a recap style post for two reasons – 1. I’m selfish and love having a written recollection of our days with Kaiden and 2. To show that not everyone lives a glamorous life. Normal is beautiful and normal is good and normal is magical in its own way. Remember that!

Father's Day 2018

Highlights from Father’s Day Weekend 2018

written by Parita Leave a Comment

Father’s Day weekend 2018 was quite special!  Nothing fancy but lots of fun, simple moments.  Just how we like it!

Father's Day 2018

In terms of the ins and outs, here are a few highlights…

  • We had professional family photos taken on Saturday morning.  I’m SO excited to see how they turned out!
  • Kaiden and I took Vishnu out for lunch on Saturday at a new-to-us restaurant called Pink Taco.  The ambiance was awesome – great music, cool decor, etc.  The food was so-so.  We loved the cheese dip and our drinks, however V’s fish tacos and my salad were just mediocre.  Regardless, we had a blast hanging out with K!
  • Kaiden said ‘mama!’  Or something that sounded pretty darn close!
  • Kaiden FINALLY cut his first tooth!
  • Kaiden gave Vishnu a nice card on Sunday.  In the card, I wrote, “While I may be a mama’s boy right now, your turn is coming soon.  Don’t you worry.”  Vishnu read turn as ‘twin’ (because my handwriting is pretty horrible and it did kinda look like twin…oops!) and asked me if I was pregnant.  In a very panicked voice!  I was so confused until I closely inspected my message.  Ha!
  • My sister and Adarsh came over on Sunday afternoon.  We hung out, played with K, ate dinner, etc.

And that, my friends, was Father’s Day 2018 in a nutshell.  I hope Vishnu felt loved and celebrated because he truly deserves every bit of it.  Not only is he an incredible dad, but he’s my rock.  I wouldn’t be half the mom I am if it wasn’t for him and his support!  Love you, babe!

Here’s to the Man…

written by Parita Leave a Comment

The other day I was thinking about my blog and all the things I talk about.  I came up with a long list – food, exercise, healthy living, work, friends, Vishnu, mom, sister, etc.  And then it hit me.  The only person I’ve only mentioned a few times here and there is my dad.  A few times?!  You wouldn’t know it, but my dad is an incredibly important person in my life.  Growing up, my sister and I were TOTALLY daddy’s little girls.  I would argue that we still are to some extent. Winking smile

I had plans to dedicate a post to my dad on Father’s Day.  Sadly, it didn’t happen!  But, there’s no time like the present!

Here’s to the man…that I am so proud to call my dad.  Love you, daddy!!!

dad1

Here’s to the man…that loves his girls more than anything in the world!

dad4

Here’s to the man…that woke up in the middle of the night (on multiple occasions) to run to the grocery store to pick up Pedialyte because one his lovely daughters was super duper sick.

Here’s to the man…that always remembered our favorite brand of cereal or peanut butter, even when we didn’t say a word.

dad2

Here’s to the man…that always finds a way to make us laugh with one of his silly jokes!

Here’s to the man…that has managed to capture every important event in our lives on camera, so that he can proudly show anyone and everyone he can.

dad3

Here’s to the man…that wakes up at the crack of dawn to provide for his family.

Here’s to the man…that has only shed tears in front of his daughters a couple of times in an effort to be strong.

Here’s to the man…that I’m afraid of seeing tear up on my wedding day more than anyone else.

I LOVE YOU, DADDY!!!! Smile
