WR = weekend recap

As I mentioned in my last post, we had a pretty packed weekend – school performance, ice cream date, Kumon, soccer x2, friend + her family over for dinner, religious class, and my sister’s new house pooja. Phew!

What I didn’t mention was that Vishnu was on a guys’ trip Thursday-Sunday. He went to Nashville (and had a blast), so much of the above was me + my parents.

Have I mentioned how thankful I am for my parents (and my in-laws)? VERY THANKFUL! I couldn’t have done everything (and remained sane) without them.

Overall, the weekend was fun. We missed Vishnu and are glad he’s home.

Current Struggle

I’m going to be very honest. I’m an upholder, which means when I set goals or want to get something done, it usually happens because I’m motivated from the inside out. Exercise, step count, eating well, reading, flossing…all things I do regularly because I hold myself accountable.

However, there’s one thing I still struggle with, and I get so mad at myself because I feel like I should be able to just do it. And that thing is…

Put my phone away at 8:30 pm and not look at it again until the next morning once I’ve worked out, showered, and eaten breakfast.

What currently ends up happening is that I either don’t put it away at all or I put it on the charger (away from my bed) and then pick it up again right before I get into bed to read for the night. Sometimes I’m able to stop myself and only be on it for a minute, and sometimes it’s a lot longer.

In either case, I want to put it away and not pick it back up.

And I’ve read all the research, hacks, tips, etc. I know how bad blue light is for us at night. I know how detrimental phone use is to our sleep. I also know that I really love to read before bed. But somehow that dang phone ends up taking up a portion of my time.

I have no solutions at this point. I’m just going to keep trying my best to put my phone to bed and not wake it up again.

If you have any ideas or tricks that worked for you, let your girl know! I appreciate it!
