If you follow me on IG and saw my stories over the weekend, you know that I tested positive for both the flu and strep. I have no idea how, but it is what it is!

In terms of my symptoms, I didn’t sleep well on Friday night and was super tired on Saturday but didn’t think twice about it. The chills started on Saturday night as we were leaving a friend’s place. When we got home, I took some Tylenol and went to bed. When I woke up, I literally felt like a truck hit me. I had body aches, a low grade fever, fatigue, a sore throats, my ears hurt, I was congested, etc. I randomly remembered seeing a CVS ad about the flu shot and decided to make a same day appointment at the Minute Clinic.

You know how that story goes…I tested positive for the flu and strep.

I was prescribed both antibiotics and Tamiflu, and I started the antibiotics as soon I got home. After talking to my FIL and sister (both physicians), I decided not to take the Tamiflu. I did, however, decide to take alternating doses of Tylenol and Advil which really helped.

I took it easy the rest of the day (literally sat on the couch and read/slept). Vishnu and I ordered in dinner and watched a few episodes of ‘The Morning Show.’ By this time, it only felt like a minivan had hit me! Ha!

The next day, I felt so much better. My temp was 100.2. I did and folded laundry and cleaned a bathroom. I was on a roll.

Other than feeling a little winded when I moved around too quickly, most of my other symptoms were gone. And I continued to feel better as the day went on.

That brings us to today! I woke up feeling 99% back to my usual self. NO FEVER! Again, just feel a little tired when I move around too quickly. And also the deep rooted congestion is not letting up. My nose isn’t runny, but when it all gets backed up…it’s really backed up!

I may go see my doctor for Sinusitis when my I’m done with the antibiotics because the never ending congestion has been going on for months. Always something!

But overall, I’m feeling good because….no fever, and now that I’m 48 hours out from taking the antibiotics, my strep is no longer contagious. Still plan on taking precautions for the next day or so.

Anyways, so so so thankful for my parents for keeping the kids an extra day. Thankful that I thought to pack extra of everything…’just in case.’ Did I jinx myself?! Also, thankful that Vishnu was able to get yesterday off so I didn’t have to do much. Just…THANKFUL!

Hoping for a healthy and productive week ahead…for all of us! Stay safe and healthy out there. Those germs are WILD!
