WR = Weekend Recap
FRIDAY – Friday was a busy day! I dropped K off at school, drove 25 minutes south to attend a networking event, and then went back to K’s school for his holiday party. Our room parent is amazing, but she doesn’t have a co-parent this year, so I try and help her whenever I can. I got to the school an hour before the party to help her decorate.
After school, K and I went on a little lunch date at True Food Kitchen. So yummy!
My in laws arrived right before I went to pick Mila up. The rest of the day = we played, we ate, and we hung out!
OBSERVATION: One-on-one time with your kids is a game changer! I could tell our time together really filled K’s cup.
SATURDAY – Kaiden and I went to my friend Jenny’s place in the late morning for our annual Oreo house decorating. Her son Noah and K are BFFs, and this was such a fun hang out. The boys were so kind to each other and really supportive while building their houses.
Later that evening, Vishnu and I headed to dinner at Delbar, a popular Middle Eastern restaurant. The food was really good, but I think Rumi’s edges it out a bit. Aside from the rice, Rumi’s food just has a little bit more flair and flavor. But I certainly wouldn’t say no to Delbar in the future! The Baklava ice cream that came highly recommended by my friend Monica was delish and so unique.
OBSERVATION: My friend Jimi (Jenny’s husband) shared his observations of how mom’s parent vs. dad’s, and I found his ideas helpful. One thing he said that really stood out to me is that mom’s tend to talk more in general. We ask lots of questions, we give lots of directions, we correct a lot. His thought is to say less and observe more. I’m giving it a go, and so far (as in 2 days), it’s working out ok!
SUNDAY – Sunday was a rest/do nothing kind of day. So fun!
OBSERVATION: You’re going to know your kids longer as adults than as children. I heard this the other day, and my mind was blown! It’s an obvious fact that I never paid much attention to until recently. With this thought in the back of my head, I spent a lot of time observing M + K on Sunday, and it was beautiful! Don’t get me wrong. There was a lot of pushing and hitting and pulling (all Mila) and lots of whining (Kaiden) and some crying (both), but man are they special kids! Love them so so much!
I hope y’all had a good weekend. Sending lots of love your way!
