My last post was almost two weeks ago, and there are many good reasons for that! That said, let’s play a little catch-up…
In terms of the usual stuff, we’re still chugging along with school and everything that comes with. Which apparently is a lot in elementary school because I feel like I’ve been attending at least two events every week at K’s school for the last 3 weeks! It’s super fun but it also makes for jigsaw puzzle kind of days/weeks if you know what I mean! This week he has a fashion show and his early birthday celebration (he’s a summer baby). Next week, we have his Kindergarten grad + end of year party. AND…I signed up to be co-chair of what I thought was this party… which actually ended up being ALL the parties, so I’ll be at his school two whole days next week for that. Fun stuff…and also someone remind me that I’m not a ‘chair’ kind of person. I’m more of a volunteer, donation kind of mom!
ALSO – KAIDEN IS GOING TO BE A FIRST GRADER! What the what!? It’s been so hard for me to wrap my head around this little fact!
Other usual stuff – activities, homework, weekend plans, coaching, writing, other building a business things that I don’t always love, podcast recording and all the behind the scenes, errands, etc.
These goofballs…
Sometimes I feel like the usual stuff is all I ever do, and while that’s mostly true, I also know how lucky I am to be able to do all of these things in ways that feel right to me. It’s the greatest blessing, but when you’re a former super achiever who thrived/s on productivity, this kind of day-to-day stuff can leave you feeling a little stuck (I’ll address this in a future post).
Anyways…in terms of the new or new’ish’ I should say…
I’m doing a coach training program right now (I’m in week 5 now I believe) that’s been eye-opening in so many ways and will help me take my coaching to a new level. It’s not super intensive in terms of time, but the exercises and material definitely have me thinking about all kinds of things. I’m excited to share more about all of that in due time.
Mila had a fever last week, and it’s funny because this isn’t the first time I’ve had to pick her up from school because of something like this, but it definitely threw me for a slight loop. Although, I think I handled it all well or at least better than the past me ever has. Luckily, Vishnu had the next day off already, and it ended up being a 24 hour kind of bug…whatever it was.
Side note: Personal growth usually doesn’t show itself right away. It takes time and can really be seen in action in retrospect. Give yourself grace if you feel stuck right now and know that in a few weeks/months time, you’ll be able to look back and see that you’ve bloomed in so many ways.
Speaking of growth, Kaiden is on his third swim instructor now (he’s been in private lessons since last October), and he took the change SO WELL! I was panicking a little about telling him because he loved his last one, but he took the news in stride and didn’t make a big deal out of it at all. It helps that his swim school has great instructors, but this also showed me how much he’s grown over time as well!
Other than that, the rest of May is both chill and busy. The biggest highlight will be a trip for me and Kaiden to…I can’t say because it’s a surprise for some special people, but we’re really looking forward to it. I’m also looking forward to this solo time with K. The last time he and I travelled together just the two of us was back in June 2021 when we moved from Chicago to Atlanta (and technically we weren’t alone because I was pregnant with Mila!). He told me to get his headphones ready so he can watch movies on the plane!
Other than that, I’m hoping to bring more intention and rest into May!
Thanks for reading if you made it this far! 🙂
Hi Parita! It’s great to catch up with you through your blog. Elementary school sure keeps you busy with all those events! Being a co-chair sounds like a lot, but you’ll handle it like a pro. It’s amazing how fast kids grow up, isn’t it? Your coach training program sounds exciting, and I’m glad Mila’s fever was just a 24-hour bug. Personal growth takes time, but it’s worth it. Kaiden’s adaptability to a new swim instructor shows his growth too. Enjoy the upcoming trip with Kaiden, and I hope May brings you more rest and intention. Keep blooming! 😊
