Last Thursday, I woke up feeling tired, rundown, and just plain blah. I didn’t have too many pressing things on my to do list, so I decided to take a me day. A day (re: few hours…until the kids came home!) for me to do things for me.

Firstly, I wish more people gave themselves the gift of a me day. I used to do this every now and then when I worked a corporate job, so I know it’s possible. Y’all! We are holding ourselves back from this gift. You can take a day for yourself every now and then. And trust me, it’s worth it!

Not that you need anyone’s permission, but I’m giving you mine – TAKE A ME DAY! PLEASE!

Not only did I need it physically (started my period that morning), but I also just needed a mental break from trying to do all the things.

At the end of the day, I felt relaxed, less anxious, more in control, etc. Who couldn’t use those kind of feelings?!

The Simple Things I Did

I read for more than five minutes.

I started a new show – Sex Lives of College Girls (good one!).

I exercised when I wanted to. Not when I needed to.

I made a big plate of nachos and ate it while watching my new show.

I organized Mila and Kaiden’s closets (re: got rid of stuff). This may not sound like a fun me day activity, but it brought me joy!

That’s it. That was my me day. And it was glorious! I’m now determined to take at least one full me day a quarter.
