It’s been a while since I’ve let you guys in on recent (and random) happenings! So I figured we should sit down and have a milk and cookies (yes, I’m five years old) date. Time to chat!
If we were having milk and cookies…
I would first tell you that I’m sorry for not having more pictures to share. It’s been a crazy few weeks!
I’d then tell you about how I miss my parents a lot. I may or may not have teared up when they drove off. It was so great to see them, but time always goes by way too fast. And believe it or not, I don’t have my next trip home planned yet. I’ll definitely be flying up for my sister’s graduation, but that’s not until May!
Next we’d chat a bit about this sickness that’s been going around. I’ve talked to three different people in three different states, and they’ve all been sick over the past few weeks. And as you guys know, Vishnu was super sick most of last week and is finally feeling a bit better. Thank goodness because he loves to cuddle and has been denied the past few nights. He tried on Monday, and I pushed him away because I’m definitely trying NOT to get sick!
The next thing we’d talk about are taxes. Yes, that dreaded four letter word. For the first time since being married, we’re going to do our own taxes. We usually use my in-laws’ accountant, but because things are a little less complicated this year, it’s just me, Vishnu (albeit grudgingly), and Turbo Tax!
We’d then move on to books we’ve read recently. I’d tell you all about Better Than Before by Gretchen Rubin and how much I loved it. It’s the kind of book you’ll want to revisit on a periodic basis. I even have a blog post planned about all the habit loopholes I find myself using.
At this point in our conversation, I’d tell you about the Inspiralizer my brother-in-law to be bought me for my birthday! You guys, it’s amazing. I used it all last week and made zucchini and sweet potato noodle dishes. I’m definitely in the honeymoon phase with this new gadget…in fact, Vishnu asked that I not make any spiralized veggie dishes this week. I’ll blog more about it soon! LOVE IT.
As I’m refilling your cup of milk, I’d tell you about how excited I am for my sister’s bachelorette party! I can’t share all the details just yet, but we have lots of fun activities planned. And don’t even get me started on all the restaurants I have lined up. Drool worthy!
The next big topic of conversation would be our move to Chicago! It’s creeping up on us for sure. We just contacted our realtor to start the conversation about what we’re looking for, what neighborhood we’re interested in, what we’re willing to pay, etc. AHHH…it’s getting real!
I’d then remember that my friend Ankita shared this video with me. I’d pull it up on my phone, we’d tear up while watching it (just a tiny bit), and then we’d talk about our biggest regrets. Powerful stuff!
Vacations would inevitably come up next. Unfortunately, we don’t have any big ones planned right now! But we do have a couple of local trips we want to take this month/early next month. Naples and Marco Island, here we hopefully come! If I were being honest, I’d tell you that at this point, I’d take a staycation where all I had to do was wake up, eat good food, read, and sleep.
And finally, before we both had to go, we’d talk movies – what we’ve recently watched, what we want to watch, etc. I’d admit that after watching more than an acceptable number of Deadpool trailers (thanks, hubs!), I kind of want to take my butt to the theater and watch it! Anyone else?!
And with that, we’d wrap up with a big hug and the promise that our next catch up will be sooner rather than later!
if we were having milk and cookies, i will tell you that im so glad Vishnu is feeling better (and you did not get sick)…i’d also tell you that i wish we could do a Austin meet up or chicago!! i have been secretly wanting spiralizer too but i have no space for anything else right now 🙁
Par, you should link up to my coffee date post on Friday 🙂

I linked over on your post! I hope it worked 🙂
Love the milk and cookies date idea, which is what my kids eat on a play date as they catch up with their friends!
I’ve been meaning to get the spiraliZer, I guess it’s similar to the one you got. Would love your take on its of ease and the taste of veggie noodles!
I am a huge fan on Gretchen too. Finding time to read and complete a book has become a challenge! Any tips?
Can’t wait to hear about your moving plans. I’m sure with your awesome planning talent, it will go smooth:)
Have a good day!
I’m going to do a separate post on the Inspiralizer soon! I absolutely love it 🙂
If we were having milk & cookies, I’d tell you that I share your sentiments towards my spiraliser- zucchini noodles with homemade marinara sauce is a favourite around here. Another thing I want to try is making curly fries out of spiralised sweet potato! That sickness seems to have made its way to this side of the world- I was down for 2 weeks and it was extremely unpleasant!!

LOVE sweet potato curly fries!!!
I am with you on the sickness. Before my last trip, REB was sick and was quarantined to the guest room for three nights. Then I got sick and was quarantined there. And now many of my coworkers and fellow gymmates are sick! Something serious is going around all over the country. And lingering for weeks on end! Terrible. I also miss my parents!! I just finished drafting a post that will publish later today about my daddio. Doing your own taxes is the way to go. We use Turbo Tax and it’s so idiot-proof those commercials aren’t exaggerating 😉
It really is idiot proof – love it!
We don’t have any vacations planned this year either and it actually feels good. I’m in desperate need of a staycation!
A true staycation would be fabulous – hoping to make it happen soon!
Love this idea of your post ” a milk and a cookie date “! Any way I missed you a lot too specially when driving for 8 some hours in beautiful sunny day after leaving you guys. Can’t wait to see you again and SOON!!!! love you so much:)
Thanks, momma! MISS YOU LOTS 🙂
I love this! I would love to take you up on that date 🙂 I just got a spiralizer as well and am also obsessed! So many fun, new recipes to try now! Your local trips sound amazing! I’ve heard great things about them both! I’m glad Vishnu is feeling better, and hope the sickness leaves your household soon for good!
