How’s that for a title, huh?!

This was a good weekend…despite the fact that Vishnu had to work on both Friday (until 9:30 pm) and Saturday (until 10 pm).  On a brighter note, his hospital rotation is over.  This means the crazy hours and stress are over too…well, until November at least.  The next four weeks should be much more relaxed with no weekends.  YES!  I already have a beach day planned for Saturday!

Friday was honestly a little unexciting.  I worked, cleaned the apartment from top to bottom, and watched a little TV.  I was planning to go for a walk in the evening, but the sky was full of black clouds, and I didn’t want to get stuck in a potential downpour (that did eventually come).

Saturday started out rather early since I wanted to keep the car for the day.  I dropped Vishnu off at the hospital at 5 am and then came home and went back to sleep for a couple more hours.

I eventually got up, ate breakfast, and made my way to a new-to-me salon to get my hair cut.  Seeing my sister’s little hair transformation last week inspired me to chop off ~3 inches.  Nothing too crazy, but it’s a nice summertime change!

Like a lot of people, I tend to be super picky about where I get my hair cut.  So I was absolutely thrilled when I met my stylist and instantly connected with her.  Thankful to find someone like Jessica in St. Petersburg!

After a quick shower and lunch, I headed to the International Plaza mall in Tampa.  The Nordstrom Anniversary sale was in full swing this weekend, and I was hoping to score some deals.

Not quite sure what I was expecting, but I walked away with nothing.  First, the store was beyond packed.  Like I couldn’t take three steps without running into another person.  Second, because I’m not a huge Nordstrom shopper as it is, I found the layout of the store a bit confusing and unorganized, especially with all the sale items.  And finally, in my opinion, the “sale” prices were still sky high.  Maybe I didn’t dig around as much as I could have, but walking around the store left me both over and underwhelmed!

I knew there was a Nordstrom Rack nearby, so I quickly Googled how to get there and decided to check it out since I was in the area.  The layout wasn’t much better, but it also wasn’t as crowded.  AND I found a pair of Paige jeans for $54 that normally retail at about $170!  I also found a pair of beautiful Steve Madden heels that I loved but didn’t buy.  I think these are it but the pair I found was greenish gray.

I really thought I was in the shopping mood this weekend…guess not!

The rest of Saturday was spent at home doing little things here and there.  Oh and I finally made a dent in the new Judy Blume book – In the Unlikely EventWill share more later!

Sunday was the best day this weekend…mainly because Vishnu didn’t have to work!  We woke up kind of early, lounged around, went to Trader Joe’s, and then met up with some of his co-interns for brunch.  A delicious eggs benedict and two Moscow Mules later, we went home and napped.  And the rest of the day was spent hanging out and prepping for the work week.

I woke up this morning not feeling too great but am hoping it’s a 24 hour bug or something.  We shall see!

Have a great Monday!

Did you check out the Nordstrom sale?  Find anything good?

  1. Parita, I love your haircut!! Did you get high/low lights as well? I’m always so nervous trying out someone new, but I’m so glad it worked out so well for you! I need a haircut pretty badly right now too!
Oh, and score on those Paige jeans!! I’ve heard great things about them, but haven’t tried them out yet. Do you think they are worth all the hype?
Glad your weekend ended with a relaxed day with Vishnu! Hope today was just a 24 hr. bug after all! 🙂

    1. I actually just got a cut! I had highlights done in March and they’re still going strong…kind of!

And Paige jeans are certainly worth the hype! I love love love them! I bought a pair full price back in December and didn’t regret it one bit!

    1. Thanks, Nisha! I got highlights back in March and they don’t look half bad yet!

And you would LOVE the Rack – definitely check it out if you get the chance!

  2. Love your haircut- looks so fresh!! Talk about a great discount on those Paige jeans- it would have been crazy NOT to have bought them ;)!

  3. I miss Nordstrom! I don’t really like shopping in the store though. I agree it’s confusing and often too crowded. I think their web platform is excellent though so I used to keep track of things I liked and try to snatch them during the sale. That said, being away from the ability to online shop so easily has been a huge blessing 🙂
I’m glad you had such a good weekend, and hope you feel better soon!

    1. Ooh good idea! I haven’t embraced online shopping as much as I probably should, especially with my personality!
