First and foremost, how is it already April? I know it’s the most cliché thing to say, but time is freaking flying right now. As excited as I am for the various trips, weddings, and other things we have going on this year, I want it to slow down just a little bit. Pretty please!

And now on a completely different note, I bring you another edition of Three Things Thursday. And while I usually try to stick to some kind theme with these posts, this one is truly random. Enjoy!3-Things-Thursday-Badge1.  Vishnu and I are headed to New Orleans this weekend for a friend’s wedding! I’m excited for yet another reunion, delicious food, and lots of dancing.

And because we get in at 7:15 am on Friday (we are taking the earliest flight known to man!), Vishnu wants to spend time exploring the city before the first wedding event. I told him I’m game as long as it involves some good food! Because of my request, Surrey’s Café and Café du Monde are on our list!

Any other must try restaurants/cafes?

2.  In an effort to avoid the mall at all costs, I recently bought Rimmel Stay Glossy lip gloss at CVS.  It was less than $6, and the color (All Night Long) looked similar to my beloved Clinique gloss.

You guys!  I LOVE IT.  And it’s really not because I had low expectations.  The color is rich and pigmented, and it stays put even after drinking the thickest protein shake.  And I don’t know if it’s just the color I bought, but I like how natural (and not super shiny) this gloss looks.

If you’re in the market for an affordable lip gloss, I highly recommend this one!

Fair warning – they post frequently throughout the day, but 99.9% of it is great!  Like this…

  1. Oh wow have a blast in New Orleans- love that you’re game for anything so long as it involves good food..my kinda girl :)! I leave for China next week to visit my sis, bro-in-law and nephew. 1. Thank you! And yes, anytime there’s good food involved, I’m ready!

And have so much fun in China – I’m so excited for you to meet your nephew!!!!

  2. Have a blast in NOLA! I’ve only been there a handful of times but all before I was 21 so I didn’t get to experience the city as an adult! I do know Cafe Du Monde is a must and if you like bourbons or drinks in general, you MUST go to some of the distilleries. I have heard immensely wonderful things about Sazerac! http://www.sazerac.com/
My best friend when in NOLA last had a foodie experience going to some restaurants some truly great chefs who have James Beards’ awards, like John Besh’s restaurant August: http://www.restaurantaugust.com/. Not sure how vegetarian-friendly it is, but do some research tonight and check out some of the yummy places! Have fuuuuun!

Curious: what color is that Rimmel lip gloss? I have seen those in my CVS all the time, but I was always hesitant to buy because I fear they will be too bright, lush and colorful and aren’t appropriate for like work or something. Thanks!!

    1. THANK YOU! Will definitely look into all of your recs later today!

And the color I bought is called All Night Long. I agree that it looks a little flashy but I promise its perfect for work. It fades a tiny bit and just leaves a nice hint of color. I think you’ll like it!

  3. I haven’t been to New Orleans yet (hope to go this Fall to visit a friend who just moved there) but I’ve heard that Commander’s Palace is pretty iconic, and it looks so pretty too. I read on another blog that they have an afternoon service were you can get cheap martinis (not really my thing, but I’m sure it’s not the only thing on the menu) if you’re not looking to spend the price of a dinner there. Have so much fun!

    1. Ooh! Thanks for the recs, Kacy! Don’t know how much time we have but will def. put these places on the list.

  4. That picture of the street of New Orleans looks so pretty!! I hope you have a great time and come back with some great recommendations cause I’ve never been either!

Thanks for your comment on my blog! 🙂

    1. New Orleans is a beautiful city! There’s so much to see, do, and eat. Highly recommend visiting at some point. 🙂
