Three Things Thursday (7)

written by Parita 9 Comments

It has been quite the week – my sister’s engagement, Vishnu’s residency match (I’ll share more about it soon, I promise!!), and my trip to Puerto Rico. Lots of good things happening right now!

With that, I thought I’d keep the excitement (maybe it’s just exciting for me!) going and share three random things I’m loving/thinking about right now.

1. I know I’ve said it a million times already, but Puerto Rico has been on my mind for the last month! I am so so so excited to celebrate my friend Sweeti. She’s one of the most fun loving people I know, so I’m positive this weekend is going to be a memorable one. I mean, how can it not when we have everything we need all in one place – the sun, the water, tropical drinks, and great friends!

2. Before I share more about the current book I’m reading, I just want to say that I’m well on the way to accomplishing my 2015 reading goal of one book a month. I am on my fourth book right now, and it’s only mid-March! Go me.

Spring Chicken by Bill Gifford is my newest read, and even though I’m only about 10% through, I love love love it! Gifford’s delves deep into the vast world of aging and brings science, research, and wit to the table making this a really interesting and fun read. I heard about this book from my mom who heard about it on NPR. Like I said, I’m not quite done yet, but if you like well-written non-fiction science books, this one should be on your list.

3. I’m always on the lookout for new blogs to read. And the ones that have been grabbing my attention lately are usually about making your passion come alive, overcoming obstacles, etc. My latest favorite is Clarity on Fire. The posts are so easy to relate to regardless of what stage of life you are in. The best part is that I’m always left with the “me too” feeling. It’s like Rachel and Kristen are in my head with every single post. I highly recommend subscribing to this blog! [A big thanks to Shannon for introducing me to this site!]

Your turn to share – what are three things you’ve been thinking about/doing this week! If you’re a blogger, write a post and link back to one or all of the hostesses: Raj from Pink Chai Living, Nisha from Love Laugh Mirch, or Salma from The Write Balance.  Then share a link to your post (not your blog’s home page).

I spent like 10 minutes looking at pics of the hotel we’re staying at! Can’t wait. The plane ride from Miami is about 2.5 hours!

Puerto Rico, how exciting! It sounds like such an amazing place.

That book sounds very fascinating. Aging is a difficult subject, but I love that it uses humor and science to make sense of something scary. I’ll definitely be looking into it!

I’ll have to add that book to my list of things to read!! I saw your Instagram pic of puerto rico and it looks like so much fun! Hope you have a blast!! 🙂
Three things I’m thinking about this week:
    • I’m also well on my with my reading goal. I set a goal of 35 books this year. Last year I set a goal of 30 and read 38, so I’m hoping that will drive me to read more 😉 I’m already on my 17th book! I really love having my “unwind” hour before bed where I unplug and read til I fall asleep, and reading on the weekends or during my lunch at work!
    • Thinking about our trip to Europe this May! I’ve got a pretty good plan in place, but I keep daydreaming and making lists of things I know we have to do while we’re there!
    • Yoga goals! I want to try to fit more yoga into my lifestyle and during the week, and also try meditating!
