…and can FINALLY let it out now!
My little sister is engaged!!!
I’ve never kept a secret from Aekta before, so this was huge! My mom was sure I was going to spill the beans, but I managed to keep it together for a little over two months.
Let me start from the beginning…
Aekta is currently on a medical rotation in Brunswick, Georgia right now. She obviously knew Adarsh was flying down for a visit, and that they would be going to Savannah for St. Patty’s this weekend. They also had plans to ride bikes on Tybee Island (a little island 20 minutes east of Savannah) and then go up the lighthouse. She didn’t know that he was going to propose there and that my parents and Vishnu and I would be there as well!
Vishnu and I drove to Jacksonville on Friday afternoon, spent the night there, and drove to Tybee Island the next morning. My parents essentially did the same thing.
We met my parents at a little grocery store on the island where we picked up flowers and some champaign. When Adarsh texted to let me know that they were riding back to the lighthouse, we made our way over.
After a couple close calls of almost running into them as they made their way to the lighthouse, we finally settled in to watch as Adarsh proposed!
After he popped the big question and she said yes, he asked her to look down. We were all waving and jumping up and down (ok fine, maybe I was the only one jumping!). The look on her face was priceless! After they made their way back down the lighthouse, we celebrated with lots of hugs and champaign.
Even though I knew the big day was fast approaching, I still can’t believe my little sister’s engaged! We are all so so so over the moon with excitement and happiness. Adarsh is the perfect addition to our family, and more than that, he makes Aekta ridiculously happy!
Congratulations to the beautiful couple! Love you both!
awwwwwww this is sweet. Congrats to Aekta. Let the wedding planning begin!!!!
