As I mentioned in an earlier post, my last trip of the year was this past Monday.  I am officially done with the whole travelling thing until 2015.  WOOT!

With that being said, I thought I would dedicate this Three Things Thursday to traveling and my love/hate relationship with it.

1.  So it’s not that I don’t love to travel.  I do.  What I don’t love is the process of flying.  In my opinion, everything from standing in the security line to getting off the plane is a huge pain in the ass.  And don’t even get me started with delays and mechanical problems.

Once I get over all the logistical stuff and settle into my seat, views like this definitely help me relax and appreciate the fact that I’m even able to travel as much as I do!

2.  I’m not a huge Starbucks fan.  Again, I don’t hate it but I don’t love it either.  However, when I’m travelling, I will go out of my way to find a Starbucks and treat myself.  My drink of choice these days?  A soy skinny caramel macchiato.  Mmmmm!

Most of my recent flights have been early morning ones.  There’s something magical about taking that first sip before 7 am.  It’s the perfect travel “juice” to jumpstart the day!

3.  In 2014, I travelled to Atlanta (multiple times), Augusta, Chicago (multiple times), Las Vegas, Austin, Houston, New York, Washington DC, and London.

And from the looks of it, 2015 is also going to be filled with travel.  As of right now, the following cities/countries are on the list – Puerto Rico (my friend Sweeti’s bachelorette party!), Detroit (Sweeti’s wedding!), ITALY!!! (in the midst of planning this trip right now), Hawaii (Vishnu’s parents want this to be our big family trip before Vishnu starts residency), London (for work in May), and hopefully a couple of more fun trips along with a few more weddings I’m sure!

Thank goodness we are using the rest of December to recharge and relax!  Bring it on 2015 travel schedule, I’m ready for you (or so I think!).

Your turn to share – where did you travel to in 2014 and where are you travelling to in 2015?

    1. So, London is scheduled for mid-May…I’ll email you the details as we get closer! If you come to NYC, I HIGHLY suggest taking the super easy/quick flight to Miami. 🙂 Just saying!

  1. I love to travel, but agree about flying, it’s plain awful. And I get sick every time. I would love to travel for work, but unfortunately I love my job and it doesn’t need me to travel for any reason, sigh. In 2014 I went to Oklahoma a bunch, Brazil, Portugal, Chicago, North Carolina and NYC. And some day/weekend trip in different parts of Maryland and Virginia as well, which is always fun. I don’t have much planned for 2015 besides a short trip to Punta Cana in January.
Italy and Puerto Rico! So exciting! I am hoping to make it to Italy for Tom and my 30th birthdays the year after next. Here’s hoping!

    1. My parents and sister just went to Punta Cana and loved it! And I think Italy would be your heaven! I really hope you guys make it out there. 🙂

  2. PAR. YOU’RE COMING TO DETROIT? You do realize that I’m a hop, skip and jump from Motor City and if time permits during your visit to the mitten, we should probably have a Par blogger meet up. JUST. SAYIN. You keep me posted.

As far as travel goes: I LOVE IT. Hell my job before the one I have was being a professional nomad. Think of me as George Clooney from Up in the Air. Not quite at that extreme, but travel every two weeks and being gone for two weeks at a time. I admit I get a bit stir crazy if I don’t get to fly some where at least once a year. The roar of a plane coming to life before takeoff is one of my absolute favorite moments!

    1. I will let you know when we are in Detroit so that we can try to meet! That would be awesome if it worked out!!

      1. For sure! Keep me posted. I can always come down to Detroit from Ann Arbor. It’s only about 40-45 min. for me 🙂

  3. Also: You’re going to LOVE Italy. We did Rome and Venice as two legs of our honeymoon in Europe! If those are on your list of places to visit, I’d be happy to give you tips of where to eat, drink and stay whilst there! How exciting!! Reading all your travel plans for 2015 has me so happy for you and a tad bit envious. I might be able to fit into a suitcase if you can take me to London with you 😉 haha.

    1. I can’t wait to hear about your 2015 adventures. I can’t wait until the time our year or even month is an open slate of opportunity. Right now everything’s planned for us.

  4. I hear you about the pain of flying. Getting to the airport means leaving 3 hours before my flight for domestic flights . . .international? Oh man. Half my day is gone just getting to the airport! I had the good fortune of spending 7 weeks this year with my family – 6 of those in Calgary, where everyone but my dad lives. I didn’t fly anywhere else this year.

  5. I did a little travelling this year both internationally and locally. I went to Mexico {yay!} but we also did day trips to Harrison Hot Springs, Squamish, and Seattle. Plus my family did a road trip through the Rockies – which was stunning!

Next year we are planning Mexico with the kids, and hopefully India in the fall!!!

    PS: When I’m travelling I always look for a Starbucks too! {White Chocolate Mocha Extra Hot}

    1. Your 2014 sounds so fun and adventurous! And yes to the White Chocolate Mocha – that’s my #2 drink of choice now!

  6. Sounds like it’s been a great 2014 and an even more exciting 2015 planned, wow! I haven’t travelled as much as I want to yet but I have a lot of places that I do want to travel to and it’s on my bucket list. I don’t drink Starbucks all the time either but I’ll have to try your recommendation. Great to have you linking up to #3ThingsThursday!

    1. 2015 should be full of more “fun/personal” travel which will be a nice change! And you must try that drink at Starbucks the next time you go. It’s so good!

  9. Airlines have succeeded in making flying so unpleasant! Unfortunately we have no choice but to put up with it…especially if we want to go to London. 🙂

Maybe I will see you there in May!!

    1. Haha. Yes, we do have to put up with it. Thankfully it’s only a few hours of plane time and hopefully lots of fun time in London (so jealous!).
