Let’s take a minute to discuss the weather. In one word, it’s cold here. Of course, Georgia cold isn’t comparable to the weather in other parts of the country. But Miami will do that to you though. Turn you into a complete cold weather wuss!
Anyways, here are the highlights from my last few days in Augusta (where my sister goes to medical school!).
My friend Monica and I realized that we were on the same connecting flight from Atlanta to Augusta! We managed to sit next to each other on the plane and talk the entire way. Can’t wait until her big day!
My parents came to Augusta to see me! It was so much fun talking and spending time together. We went to a local Mediterranean restaurant called Best Bites for dinner on Saturday. You know a restaurant is really good when everyone in our family loves it!
We shared the Best Bites special pizza (seen above!), a falafel wrap, and vegetarian moussaka. YUM!
We woke up to the smell of chakri on Sunday morning. My parents were busy at work in the kitchen making one of our favorite Indian snack foods!
And then it was my turn to get to work. I made Red Velvet cupcakes for my mom since she has a birthday coming up! Red Velvet is her absolute favorite and this recipe definitely delivered. They were delicious! There’s really no substitute for baking with real butter, flour, and sugar!
When I told Vishnu about these cupcakes, he said that the next dessert I make will be real non-healthified bread pudding…for him!
After my parents left on Sunday afternoon, my sister and I drove to the local canal for a walk. We spent the entire time talking (and laughing) in what Vishnu calls our sister language!
We ended the night with enchiladas (topped with my mom’s special green sauce) and the movie About Time (a good Sunday night movie).
And just like that it’s Monday. Make it a good one!
Sounds like a great weekend- happy early birthday to you mom! That cupcake looks fabulous. As much as I love healthifying recipes, sometimes you just gotta appreciate a food in its original, full-fat, sugary form!

My fitness regime has gone out the window and I’m struggling to kickstart any form of workout now that it has turned cold in London. What a lovely way to spend a weekend – loved ones, good food and lots of laughs. I enjoyed About Time, sweet movie.
