Before we get into my favorite links from the week, I’d like to remind you about my pretty little giveaway.  Don’t forget to leave a comment!  YOU could be the winner!

Ok, so different perspectives are represented in a few of today’s links.  While it’s great to read articles that align to my personal thoughts, I find that it’s even more fun to read things that take me outside my comfort zone and make me think.  I hope some of these links do that for you too!

Let’s get to it!

Self-Discipline in 5 Sentences – Everyone should read this.  So simple, so true.  LOVE.

The Philosophy That Will Ruin A Marriage – Last week I linked to Marriage Isn’t For You.  This week I present y’all with a slightly different take on what marriage is all about.  I’m obviously no expert, having only been married a little over 1.5 years.  However, I think both POVs are relevant and correct.  While you should never make your marriage/relationship all about you, you should ensure that your happiness, along with your partner’s, is a priority.

My Embarrassing Picture Went Viral – As I read this article, I was screaming “YOU GO, GIRL” the entire time (in my head of course).  What an amazing woman!

But I refuse to disappear. I still go jogging in public. I don’t hide my flabby arms or chubby ankles for fear of offending someone else’s delicate sensibilities. I dress in a way that makes me happy with myself. And this Halloween, I’m thinking of reprising my role as Lara Croft just to give all the haters the middle finger.

And no, I won’t be putting the pictures online this time.

My viral photo made me an unlikely role model – A follow-up piece to the article above.  I love that this woman took her experience and did something about it

The point of the project is to empower women to stand up for themselves more and learn to love themselves just a little bit more, no matter what issues they may be working through.

9 Sneaky Reasons You’re Ravenously Hungry – For those of us who have the occasional I-can’t-seem-to-get-full-no-matter-how-much-I-eat days.

Pounding Pavement by Heel or Toe – I used to be a heel striker, which I think led to all the knee pain I experienced over the past few years.  Now I’m a mid-foot striker.  The basic lesson is…do what works for you.

Keep Telling Yourself, ‘This Workout Feels Good’ – I’ve always known that the mind-body connection is a powerful thing!  As silly as it sounds in your head, keep up the positive self-talk.

It’s Possible To Get Too Much Of These 5 Essential Nutrients – More proof that our bodies are smarter than we give them credit for, and that if we just nourish them with a variety of different foods, they’ll be just fine.

10 Toxic Beauty Ingredients to Avoid – Eep!  This is something I really want to and need to start paying attention to.  It’s not just about what we put in our bodies, it’s also about what we put ON our bodies.

5 Reasons Running May Not Help You Lose WeightI totally get that not everyone runs to lose weight.  But for those who do, this is a great article that presents new and different ideas to take running to the next level.

Garlic Parmesan Kale Chips – I know everyone is sick of hearing about kale chips.  BUT I can promise you these are the best!  The flavor combination is spot on!  Vishnu and I ate an entire batch last weekend…in under 3 minutes.

Fudgy Pumpkin Brownies – Just a warning – once you click on this link, you will be running to the supermarket to buy all the ingredients necessary to make these brownies.  YUM.

The Bros Who Love Love ActuallyThis reminded me of Vishnu because Love Actually is one of his favorite movies!  In fact, he’s the one who introduced me to it.  Awww…

  1. Interesting article about the essentials that you can get too much of…I think I once popped to much zinc (in an effort to help eczema) and my skin really broke out. It makes sense!

Hope you are having a great weekend.
