The thing I absolutely love about my relationship with Vishnu (and always have) is that I can be myself around him 100% of the time. I’m never ridiculed or judged for acting goofy or saying something silly. And the same goes for him. I actually love goofy Vishnu – always cracks me up!
So the other night, I brought up a topic that we’ve discussed a few times before – soul mates.
You see, I’m a pretty spiritual person. On the other hand, a lot of Vishnu’s beliefs are rooted in scientific theory. Not all, but some. Even with our different views, we agree on a lot, and at the very least, we agree to disagree.
I honestly didn’t know what would come of this conversation but here’s how it went…
P: Do you believe in soul mates?
V: …yes (as he shrugs his shoulders a little)
P: Do you think we’re soul mates?
V: …yes (as he looks at me with an uncomfortable look on his face)
P: Well, I honestly believe we are. I don’t know what it is but I feel connected to you…always have. Know what I mean?
V: I feel connected to you too, Par.
P: No, I’m talking about the kind of connection that links us together for eternity!! You’re stuck with me, babe! I’ll hunt you down if need be! (Laughing)
V: (holds my hand and continues to watch TV)
This is pretty typical for us when it comes to these types of conversations. But I still love that I can bring up the topic and state my view.
This past Saturday marked nine months of marriage for us (credit goes to my mom for actually remembering – Vishnu and I didn’t even think about it), and once again I was reminded of all the reasons why I’m one of the luckiest people in the world. With the #1 reason being…
…I married my soul mate.

This post literally made me tear up! You guys are so perfect for each other 🙂 I’m so glad you found each other!
Aww! Thanks, Liz! I’m glad we found each other too!
Awww so cute! I don’t know if I believe in soul mates, but I do think that there isn’t anyone better for me than REB. He doesn’t believe in them and kind of acts the way V does haha. But I know we have this connection and this weird understanding where he can read my thoughts or know my actions translate to something. It’s so important to be able to be yourself around the people you love and love you!
P.S. Love the pictures you used in this post 🙂 So beautiful!
Thanks, Par! And yes, you summed it up nicely. Whatever you call it or not, it’s that connection that goes beyond just being husband and wife.
I love these relationship posts- they’re always so cute! I hope I can one day be as lucky as you two and marry my soul mate :)!
You will…both of you! I have a feeling. 🙂
Tears here too. So glad I found your blog. 🙂
Aww…I’m so glad you found me!
You guys are great together, and such a sweet post. Love your pictures, you both look so happy 🙂 !
Thank you! A lot of credit goes to our photographer for making us look good. Haha!
This post was so beautiful and so are you (and all those FABULOUS saris!).
I feel the same way about Tom. He lets me be 100% myself and I believe we were fated to be together. I have issues with my faith in certain areas, but I have no doubts about that.
Thank you, Kacy! And yay for you and Tom – y’all sound like such a fun couple! And I’m the same way…I’m not sure about much, but when it comes to Vishnu, I know that we were meant to be together.
so sweet! ps love all of your wedding clothes, so beautiful!
Thanks! Dressing up was so fun…more than I thought it would be!
Awwr gush. Happy 9 months to you and your soul mate 🙂 I loved reading about how happy you and Vishnu are together, and the pictures – gah! – you two are perfect together.
Thank you! We’re not perfect but we have fun being imperfect with each other!
What a adorable post 🙂 I wish you guys all the happiness in the world..
Thanks, Dixya…you’re so sweet!
I tend to believe we can have more than 1 soulmate, and by that I mean have this undeniable connection with someone who just gets you, and all other connections too. That would be depressing if it is just 1 person out of almost 7 billion people, right? You’re lucky to have found that. You guys make a very cute couple, and he gets you. 🙂
Thanks, N! And you’re right, maybe we do have more than one. Who knows!? I just feel a super strong connection to Vishnu that’s been there since I first met him. As silly as it sounds, it’s like our souls were meant to be together.
Awwww.. That is so cute! Loved the pics too. And i love how moms remember these sort of things. I would never think about a 9 month anniversary. You guys are super cute together. Loved the pics.
Thank you! And you’re right, only moms would remember something like a 9 month wedding anniversary!
SO CUTE! All of those pictures of you two are stunning! I want an Indian wedding! 🙂 I totally believe in soul mates – and I’m thankful I married mine!
Thanks, C! I’m glad you married your soul mate too. You and Cory are so cute!
Very beautiful pictures! I also believe in soulmates, although I believe we have several that we will one day be lucky enough to run into one.
Thank you, Tara! And I like the idea of having multiple soul mates. It’s comforting!
I love this post. Thank you for sharing your beautiful pictures! I believe in soul mates too 🙂
