1. Remember the exhaustion I mentioned earlier in the week? Well, it hit me hard Friday night. I passed out on the couch at 9:30, only to wake up at 8:00 the next morning. Much needed.
2. I think I’m going to change cleaning day from Sunday to Saturday. After doing so this weekend, it just makes sense. Sunday is the day of rest after all! I may even change grocery shopping day to Saturday. We’re living on the edge over here!
3. I met up a college friend for lunch this weekend. We decided to try a restaurant called The Cheese Course. It’s actually a European-style cheese shop that also serves delicious sandwiches and salads.
The restaurant itself is very quaint and super cute. And the menu offers lots of options to choose from. I think I’m going to try a cheese course next time.
I went with the Spanish Field Greens salad this time around. It was really unique – Manchego cheese, orange slices, red onion, black olives, and a honey-tarragon dressing. A must try!
4. Saturday night was game night. Over the course of five hours, we played three different games (all of which were new to me) – Cards Against Humanity, Creationary, and Settlers of Catan.
Cards Against Humanity is SO MUCH FUN! It’s the adult version of Apples to Apples. If you ever do decide to play, make sure you are with people who don’t get easily offended and have a sense of humor. Two musts.
Creationary is essentially Pictionary but with Legos. This game was challenging, but our team ended up doing a great job! Let’s just say it got the creative juices flowing!
And finally, Settlers of Catan. I’m not even going to try explaining this game. Apparently it’s all the rage right now. Sadly, by the time I got the hang of what the heck was going on, it was 1:00 am and time to leave.
5. Sweet potato puffs are awesome.
Sweet potato puff “nachos” are even better.
Not only was this the perfect pre-football Sunday lunch, it was super simple to assemble. Just top baked puffs with beans, salsa, cheese – microwave for 45 seconds or so – top with chopped onion, avocado and spinach. Enjoy!
6. What is it about Whole Foods that turns a stop for frozen Brussels sprouts into something much more. $30 more to be exact.
7. The Falcons lost. Boo.
8. I’m at work today. Grrr… On the bright side, my commute was awesome.
That’s all. Happy Monday! And to those of you who have today off, enjoy!
Cards Against Humanity is seriously everywhere… I feel like I’ve heard about it just recently, but everyone knows what it is…
I think Whole Foods is worse than Target. I can’t leave without spending at least $50!
Tell me about it!!
Love that you guys had a game night on Saturday- such a fun way to spend the evening! I especially want to try Cards Against Humanity! Your lunch looks YUM…and given that they didn’t skimp on the cheese, I can tell it’s a great place ;)!
Game nights are seriously my favorite. They make me so happy!
I couldn’t stop hearing about Cards Against Humanity Saturday, even though I’d never heard of it before that! It must be all the rage. We were at a bar where you rent board games to play, but that one was never available so we played Apples to Apples and another one called I Never, which is just like the game kids play at drinking parties. it was silly.
Sounds like you had a great weekend!
Off today… just watched the Inauguration.. it was a nice day so far. OMG, those sweet potato puffs look good, they kinda look like fat cheese curls, no? So creative that you turned them into nachos. My cleaning/cooking day is sunday. I run my grocery errands during the week after work since I usually commute from NYC. The games look fun, haven’t done any of it.
I am at work too 🙁 and Mondays are always hard! I am tempted to try those sweet potato puffs now! i havent played any of those board games but i liked them a lot when i was in college 🙂 Have a good week.
I am working today….I wish I worked at a bank or post office right now. 🙂
I am intrigued by the potato puffs…would venture to Whole Foods but it’s worse than Target for me. I must steer clear.
They were so good, Ameena! And I’m on self-imposed WF ban for now. I should probably ban Target too. My wallet doesn’t like those stores.
That Spanish salad sounds unique, in a yummy way! I’m going to have to check out some of those games. They sound like fun!
Haha I always go into Whole Foods for one thing and leave with a cartful! I don’t know how it happens!
I know what you mean! It’s like things magically appear in my basket… 😛
I LOVE Cards Against Humanity! I played it over New Years in Chicago with my sister and now I’m seeing that game every where!! I tried buying it from their site but it’s sold out. It’s selling on Amazon for like $70. I don’t need it THAT badly but I gotta buy it some time soon!
$70!? I’m hoping the price goes down. I want it!
That’s just on Amazon if you really wanna buy it. It’s only like $25 from their web site! But it’s sold out right now 🙁 I added my name to their mailing list so that I get notified when they’re back in stock! LOL
Oh my GODDD I LOVE Cards Against Humanity! You’re so right – you can only play with people who don’t get offended easily. I think it’s impossible to play that game without crying from laughing so hard.
So. much. fun!
30 bucks at whole foods would be amazing for me! I can’t seem to get out of there in less than 50, even if i stop for just one thing! I need to watch my vitamin D levels too, and those of my kids. I actually take the baby’s vitamin D drops occasionally!
I never knew how important vitamin D was! Glad you are on top of it!!
I think I’m the reason the Falcons lost- it was the first game I watched all season. I’m so sorry!
PS- I need to check out this cards against humanity game. I keep hearing good things!
You and me both! I even told Vishnu I was a bad luck charm… 🙁
And definitely check out the game. SO MUCH FUN!
Settlers have been played here at my NGO for years and years! I hate the game because I always lose! I love hte idea of Pictionary with lego though!
