I can’t believe Vishnu and I have been in Atlanta for five days already.  Time is flying (as usual)!  We are currently hanging out at his parent’s house.  Fun times with the in-laws!

Like I said in my last post, we didn’t really “celebrate” Christmas yesterday, but we did get each other fun presents.  And now that I think about it…we only brought back the gift exchange tradition last year.  The last time we had a tree with presents under it was probably 16 years ago.  I don’t know why we stopped, but I think it’s safe to say that everyone is glad we brought it back.  Even my silly husband who repeatedly told my parents and sister that he didn’t want any presents.  My dad managed to capture all of the “Christmas 2012” fun on video.  I tend to get a little impatient when the set up is happening but love watching the footage afterwards.  We are a crazy bunch!

The damage

I was a little shocked with what I received this year.  Like I said, we usually get each other a bunch of silly trinkets and one normal gift.  Well, this year my normal gift came in the form of this…

I was absolutely shocked that my parents and sister bought me (and Vishnu) this!  I mentioned a long time ago that I really wanted to buy a blender like this but needed to save up a bit first.  Well, my family decided to do the buying for me.  They even came up with an elaborate story to get me to bring my Ninja home.  I was told that my sister wanted to try it out so that she could figure out if she wanted it for herself.  Little did I know that I was asked to bring it home for my sister since I would be taking the Blendtec back with me to Florida.  Tricky tricky!  Christmas 2012 turned out to be as great as Christmas 1990, except this time my “Nintendo” was an awesome blender and my first reaction was more shock versus pure excitement.  No worries though, I am VERY excited to start using my new toy!  I’ve already bookmarked a ton of recipes in the Blendtec cookbook.

Other gifts included a robe, a tube of mascara and my favorite chapstick.  🙂

Later in the day we headed over the Vishnu’s house for Christmas part two.  His parents got me a purse and a cute dress!  Niel, Vishnu’s brother, got me an organic granola kit (he knows me so well).  And Vishnu got me a pair of Armani aviator sunglasses.  Very stylish!

As we were sitting around the dinner table last night (both my family and Vishnu’s), I felt SO lucky.  I have been blessed with two amazing and loving families.  Everyone is healthy and happy.  And while nothing is ever perfect, we have so much to be thankful for.  2012 was good to us.

And here’s to a wonderful 2013 from my family to yours!!

  1. In terms of gifts, your family did great! Like yours, my day was family-filled which I loved…food coma-inducing meal followed by lots of chatter over dessert and then watching the Downton Abbey finale- perfect!

  2. Well, I got some cookies from Trader Joe’s. We do the silly gifts too… it’s all part of the fun. And I got some alcohol. 🙂 Congrats on the blender… very nice! As long as you get that 1 normal gift, it’s all good. 🙂 Merry Christmas P!

  3. I can’t wait to hear how you like that Blendtec! very sneaky of your family to get the Ninja home. 🙂

We cooked a tone, ate a ton, and gave a ton. Overall, a successful holiday!

  4. Santa really liked you too this year- i think we both have been really good this year. Christmas is so much joyful to be around people you love and care for. You are very lucky to have two sets of wonderful parents and awesome husband 🙂 looking forward to hear all about the Blendtec

  5. A Blendtec?! Best Christmas ever 🙂 Can’t wait to see what you make first. And I love that you and your sister got matching shirts. I’m definitely putting all my future children in matching clothes 🙂

  6. Silly gifts are the best gifts ever…especially ones from Trader Joe’s. I got Green Tea Mints and Coconut Macaroons and Cocoa Nibs and I love them as much as the Lululemon jacket I received. 🙂

Congrats on the blender! It looks scarily complicated but I’m sure it’s just my inexperience talking here. So happy for you!
