I’m headed home (FL is home now) to Atlanta today!  WOO HOO!  Even though I’m really sad that Vishnu won’t be coming with me, I’m excited to see my family and friends.  This is my first visit since the wedding (almost 5 months)!

What a beautiful city!

I know time is going to fly.  So much to do in a week.  And I’m working remotely Monday-Wednesday, so time is a little more limited as it is.

Still there are so many things to look forward to…

  • Spending time with my mom, dad, and sister. CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THEIR FACES!!!
  • Hanging out with Vishnu’s mom for a couple of days.  His dad is in India right now, so it’ll be just us girls.
  • Attending a good friend’s wedding!  I love love…and weddings!
  • Seeing a lot of my friends at this wedding!  Can’t wait to celebrate!
  • Eating a ton of delicious Indian food.  My gosh how I’ve missed it!  I really need to work on my Indian cooking skills.  Maybe I’ll come back from this trip motivated to start.  Ha!
  • Spending Thanksgiving day with both of my families…minus Vishnu and his dad.  No worries – they’ll be there in spirit.  Not sure what the meal plan is (Indian food or American), but I do know that I’m going to make some chocolaty dessert for us to enjoy.

So yeah, that’s pretty much my plan.  Woot!  Can’t wait!  However, I’m pretty sure that the minute I land in Atlanta, I’m going to miss Vishnu and wish he were with me.  Stupid med school!  Oh well, December is right around the corner, and before I know it, we’ll be driving home together for Christmas!

Ok, time to pack and get some things done before my flight later today!  Have a wonderful weekend, y’all!

Where is home for you?  <— Atlanta has always been home for me until recently.  I’m still adjusting to Fort Lauderdale and Florida as a whole, but I think it’s safe to say that this is home now!

  1. Ah I could just feel your excitement in this post…and hence I am excited for you! Have the best time in ATL…and by the sounds of it you are going to! Even though I spent a majority of my life in Nigeria (14 years), I still consider London “home” (I lived there for 8)! I guess it might be because I know that even 50 years down the line, I will still be going back to London regularly! I am actually headed back in a few weeks to spend Christmas there and just the thought of it makes me giddy!

    1. Thanks, K! I am really excited about spending some time with my parents and sister. I miss them so much!

And I didn’t know you spent 14 years in Nigeria! Were you born there? And I’m so excited for you – I know how much you love visiting London!! ::)

  2. I’ve never been to Atlanta (aside from the airport)…what a gorgeous picture! I hope you have a fantastic time with your family and I hope you get to eat a ton of fabulous Indian food too.

    Happy Thanksgiving Parita!

PS: The Louboutin gift? I have no words.

  3. There’s nothing like going home is there! Luckily I live like 2 mins away from my parents haha but it’s still the same (Even if they fuss over the baby-to-be more than me now!!) 😀

Have fun with your family and friends – and also a great Thanksgiving 🙂

  4. Home for me is Chicago and I still get so excited when I see the skyline all lit up! Atlanta is beautiful, I had no idea the downtown looked like that. I’ve never been!

  5. Parita, need to start by saying you look absolutely GORGEOUS in that new picture on the right, everything is so green, love the mehndi, eventhough i really hate mehndi and the smell, but it looks gorgeous with hints of green.

i can feel your excitement… are you going to be spending thanksgiving in atlanta or FLL? i only went to Atlanta once for a NETIP conference, haha, but i heard it is a fun city, lots of soul food. i was staying in the buckhead area. happy diwali!

  6. I have always wanted to go to Atlanta besides the airport. maybe someday. For me, I dont know what to call home anymore. Truly, home is Nepal for me but i only get to visit every 2-3 years and have been moving from one state to another for past few years. I have none at this point, although I love the feeling of coming back to my apartment in Dallas these days after a long trip.
