I wasn’t planning on writing a post today, but I received an email that made me change my mind.
A week or so ago, I blogged about marital advice that was passed on to me from family and friends, and I pretty much thought that was it. However, a family member sent me a bit of advice today that I thought was important enough to share.
Here’s what she had to say…
When things get tough – and they will – remember the love that brought you together and remember that it is love that will pull you through. Don’t pull away from each other. Remember to stay strong together, and if you do, you can beat pretty much anything.
You see – all of the things I posted about previously are important…date nights, learning to live together, respect, communication, compromise, patience, etc. But, as this piece of advice reminded me, the love that you share is the very thing that will get you to act on everything else. And in a way, I think these words can be applied to any relationship, even the one you have with yourself!
I’m not sure if this one is 100% applicable, but it’s one of my favorite quotes.
Happy Thursday!
I love those old school Winnie the Pooch drawings. 🙂
That sounds like some great advice!
you’re right…great advice. the tough times are the most important!
I love that Winnie the Pooh pic! We can always use a reminder to put aside our ego for what really matters- love!
I think so too – in the end, that’s all you really have!
I adore that Pooh picture. adore.
A brilliant piece of advice…sometimes it’s the simplest things that matter! And sometimes our family members have all the answers. 🙂
beautiful post. sometimes it is hard to think back to what we love about the person we marry, and that’s why sometimes it’s important to write them down when things are good so you can reflect on it when things are not so hot. 🙂 I’m working from home today- yippie!
It’s not always easy, but I think it’s important. I like your idea of writing it down as a reminder for when times do get tough.
this made my heart smile for so many reasons. love it. love you. 🙂
Thank YOU! Love you more!
LOVE.
That is all 🙂
Ah, winnie the pooh. So nostalgic! Families has the best advice out there, no? 🙂
