In true Fresh Prince fashion…

Now, this is a story all about how
I thought I lost my wallet and couldn’t get Taco Bell.

Let me back up for a second and start from the beginning.

I woke up at 5:15 to go to the gym.  My workout was great, and I really felt energized.  Before leaving for work, I made a mental note about my Wednesday night plans – get home by 5:30 in order to make butternut squash soup and then sit on the couch to watch my favorite TV shows.

Then, I got to work, settled in, attended a few meetings, etc.  My day was pretty much going the way I envisioned.  And to be honest, this almost never happens to people who work in Human Resources.  Usually, no two days are the same and they’re all equally unpredictable for the most part.

Anyway, up until 4:00, all was well.  Then I was informed that I had to attend one more meeting from 4:30-5:00 pm.  “Ok,” I thought to myself, “after that meeting, you can go home, make your soup, and be lazy the rest of the night.  Awesome.”

Well, the meeting lasted until 5:45 pm.  And again, being in HR means that you will always have “interesting” issues to tackle.  So, let’s just say my meeting was “interesting” and we have lots to do before 12:00 pm tomorrow.

Anyway, on my drive home, I made the decision not to make soup tonight and just pick something up.  I’m not very good when it comes to these kind of last minute decisions.  Case in point, I headed to the nearest Taco Bell for some tostadas.

So, I went through the drive through, ordered my food, and went to pull out my wallet to pay.  Annnnd…my wallet was no where to be found.  Obviously, I freaked out big time.  I still couldn’t find when it was my turn to pay.  In a very embarrassed voice, I told the person at the window that I couldn’t find my wallet.  She looked at me with a blank face and said “ok.”

With a growling stomach, I started the drive home.  At the first red light, I happened to notice a dark “block” sitting on the floor underneath the passenger’s seat.    MY WALLET!!!   A huge wave of relief washed over me.

By that point, it was too late to turn back around, so I figured my dinner would now consist of cereal galore.

However…

I’d like to take a minute just sit right there
I’ll tell you how dinner turned out and I actually fared

What what!

A Publix veggie sandwich, Baked Lays, and a Diet Coke.

With that, I’m off to watch some Wednesday night television…

And thanks to all for the kind words on yesterday’s post.  It was definitely the saddest one I’ve written yet, but I really do believe the message is important…every little bit of kindness counts.

  1. First off…I am so sad to hear about your co-worker. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be for you!

Secondly, it was meant to be that you didn’t eat Taco Bell. Meant to be I tell you!
