I woke up to the sound of rain this morning. And luckily for me, that’s all Irene has been – a little wind and rain. However, I know she caused extensive damage for some parts of the east coast. My thoughts and prayers go out to anyone and everyone affected by Mean Irene.
Let’s see…if Irene had decided to never grace us with her presence, my wedding outfit would’ve been in my possession by now. I was going to drive to NJ with my aunt to pick it up, but obviously our plans changed a bit. No bid deal though – we’re going to go again in a couple of weeks!
Since all the hype about the storm has been happening for at least a few days, I had plenty of time to plan out my weekend at home. And let me tell you, I kind of needed an entire weekend all to myself.
The first thing on my agenda was some much needed sleep. It was glorious!
I also wanted to spend some time making breakfast, as that hasn’t been happening lately.
This is simplicity at its finest! Just some oatmeal, cinnamon, banana, peanut butter, and chocolate chips. Heaven in a bowl I tell you!
I also finished Sarah’s Key last night. I must say, I found the first half of the book much more compelling. In my opinion, the second half was a bit of a disappointment. However, I still recommend the book because I think it tells an important story.
I also cleaned out my closet this weekend. It’s been on my to do list forever, so finally bit the bullet and sorted through all my clothes. I had to have some honest conversations with myself when it came time to deciding what should stay and what had to go. In the end, quite a few things ended up in the Goodwill bags.
I also gave my apartment a good cleaning. A clean home is a happy home after all!
I also watched a couple of movies. Thank goodness for Netflix!
Movie #1 was Kismat Konnection, a Bollywood film about luck and love. It was cute!
Movie #2 was You Again. I’m glad I didn’t read any reviews beforehand because 99% of them are awful, but I found the movie pretty funny and perfect for a Sunday afternoon.
Well, I’m off to check a few more things off my list. Stay safe, everyone!
Were you affected by Irene? If so, what did you do to keep yourself occupied?
So glad to hear you weren’t affected by Irene. Sounds like you had a great Sunday! The weather in Mumbai was horrific yesterday because of the monsoons! Even though it meant a change in my plans, I had a great day at home: a lot of blog work, pyjama day, yummy eats, Bollywood movie (snap)! Stay safe, P!
Glad to hear you haven’t dealt with all the crazy they were projecting!
And I agree on “You Again”. I rented it assuming it would be just “ok”, but really enjoyed it. Funny how that randomly happens… I guess going in with low expectations is the way to go?
At first I thought those were apples in your oatmeal!! i agree though, that combo is the simplest but the best! I saw someone else reading that book… I feel so bad but I hardly have time to just sit down and enjoy a good read!
What a fun evening. I still need to watch Jab we Met on Netflix!
