I wouldn’t say I’m a creature of habit, but I do tend to fall into somewhat of a routine sometimes, especially when it comes to breakfast.  I go through phases.  First, it was oatmeal, then it was breakfast cookies, and finally, I am now hooked on smoothies.  My favorite combo is the good old PB + cocoa powder + banana concoction, but sometimes it’s just necessary to change things up.  And today, I did just that.

Enter…a brand spanking new smoothie combo, thanks to Rachel at The Avid AppetiteShe posted her Banana Bread smoothie recipe last night, and it got me thinking about what I’m missing out on just sticking to the same old familiar things.  I’m happy to say that my smoothie creation from this morning was a success, and that it will now be a regular part of my breakfast rotations. Smile  Thanks, Rachel!

Here’s what went into my mix…

Adapted from The Avid Appetite

1 cup soy milk
1/4 cup raw oats
1 spoon PB
1 frozen banana
1 scoop Sun Warrior chocolate protein powder
1/2 tablespoon ground flax seeds

a few dashes of cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

The trick to making this smoothie is to let the oats soak in the milk for about about 5-10 minutes or so beforehand.  Once that step is complete, add all of the other ingredients and blend until thick and smooth!  I made the mistake of not blending enough, so I had a few oat pieces left.  They were a chewy surprise, but I will definitely blend more next time.

I tried to look extra nice for work today because I was supposed to lead a presentation and discussion on an important HR topic.  Guess what happened?!  No one showed up!  I’ll admit, it was an optional Brown Bag session open to all employees, but come on!  Not one person showed up!  I called my boss from the conference room, and asked him what I’m supposed to do if the presentation ended up being a party of one, and he said to just come back.  Hey, at least we got a good laugh out of it!

P.S. You can kind of see my new haircut in this picture.  I did end up going back to the salon last Saturday to get it fixed.  The owner took a look and redid my layers for me.  She even agreed that it was messed up.  LOL!  All I can say is…MUCH better!

Well, have a great night y’all!  I’m off to read and relax before bed.  Smile

  1. 1. We’re so freaking alike! I am SUCH a creature of habit and I absolutely get stuck on one type of food for breakfast.
    2. Your hair looks great and you looked so professional in your outfit!
    3. I know how it feels when no one shows up for a presentation! Ugh that sucks – but at least your boss didn’t mind! 🙂
    4. I hope you have a great weekend!! 🙂

  2. At least you looked super cute! Love the hair. 🙂

I have a hard time making the same thing twice, but I have t say that I’m all about chia pudding right now. After the peach, I’m going to be experimenting all summer with flavors!

  3. Love your outfit! I tried overnight oats today in the form of chocolate covered katie’s voluminious oats and i think i’ve found my new favorite breakfast! The bowl was huge and took ages to finish= bueno!

  4. I love your hair 🙂 you look so cute and professional in that picture, I loved it. That reminds me to get my hair relayerd again. Miss you my sunshine!

  5. I tend to have the same breakfasts over and over again too. I’m in a big oatmeal rut right now. 😛

Sorry you put all that work into the presentation only to have no one show up. That’s so annoying! But hey, at least you looked super good! I like your shirt!
