Hi friends!  I hope you had a fabulous weekend and some awesome weather wherever you were!

As I alluded to the other day, I participated in Project Bread’s Walk for Hunger yesterday.  Project Bread is dedicated to alleviating, preventing, and ultimately ending hunger in Massachusetts.  Such a noble cause!  And I’m not the only one who thinks so…it was estimated that there were about 40,000 walkers.  Wowsers!

I walked with two of my coworkers.  It was great because all three of us are speed demons as demonstrated by our time – 20 miles in 5 hours and 25 minutes!!!

Me and Courtney ready to get our walk on!
Ready...Set...Go!
Fried dough?! French fries?! Hehe.
Halfway there! 🙂
Walking along the Charles River!

With about 5-6 miles left to go, our lower bodies were starting to get very tired and sore, but we kept on trekking.  I think these signs helped us along…

This fact opened my eyes! I get to pick and choose exactly what I put in my body, while 660,000 people are struggling to put food in their bodies.
So glad this organization exists! $74 million dollars over 4 decades...incredible!
Yay! The finish line is in sight!
20 miles = hungry me!

Well there you have it…my walk recap via pictures!  I am so glad I did this – sore legs, tired feet, and all!  It was a great way to see the city, and more importantly, Project Bread is one step closer to accomplishing it’s mission!  Woo hoo!

I hope y’all are ready for Monday! 🙂

  2. I’ve never done anything like this before but I think it would be such an awesome experience to walk for a cause. You go girl!!! 😀

  3. Parita,

What an amazing experience for such a great cause. You’re so right that so many of us can be choosy about what we eat when so many both here in the US and particularly around the world don’t have enough of anything to eat. Such an important point to make.

Thank you so much for sharing and I hope that you have a great start to your week! 🙂

  4. What a great cause! I think walking 20 miles would be so much fun, and it looked like the weather was nice, which makes it even more fun!

  5. Amazing job! Such a noble cause and you’re so right: here we are with infinite choices of food in front of us and opting for healthy foods whereas some people aren’t so lucky to even get any food some days! Events like these are such eye-openers!
