I LOVE love. Yes, I am that girl. And I have been that way since… well, forever! I remember being 6 or 7, looking up at the stars every now and then, and wishing for the “perfect” boy to come into my life. At 6 or 7!!! I even wrote a journal entry titled “Dear Boy” at the age of 12. The entry was a letter to my future man about how I’ll love him forever and how we’ll live happily ever after. I’m not kidding. I still have it and will definitely share it with y’all once I find it. 🙂 I love romantic movies of all kinds, romantic stories/books, romantic songs, etc. Like I said, I love love!
Now, imagine someone who is the complete opposite of what I described above, and you have Vishnu. Haha! He loves (obsessed with) cars and sports. He loves making people laugh. He loves to eat good food. He loves politics and a good debate. He loves medicine. But he never loved love…until he met me! 🙂
When we started dating, people were so confused because, from the outside, you couldn’t find two more completely different people. But somehow, we clicked. We were good friends at first who just enjoyed each other’s company. After an entire summer of hanging out, we both started liking each other. Vishnu “asked me out” on the 4th of July after we had dinner and watched the fireworks at a park in Atlanta. He actually did it over the phone once our “date” was over, and we were both driving home. He asked, “So, has dating crossed your mind?” I kind of knew it was coming but was still so super excited when he finally brought up the subject. I giggled and said yes. I think his reply was, “Alright, I’m so excited” or something like that. We were (and still are) such dorks! But almost six years later, here we are… 🙂
I was sorting through all of my stuff, and I found something that I wanted to share with y’all that shows you how much of a romantic I am! When we first started dating, every monthly anniversary was VERY important to me. So you can imagine how excited I was about our six month anniversary. I brainstormed a ton of ideas for what to give Vishnu, and I finally came up with the perfect gift, a notebook with questions that we would both answer about each other (don’t worry if you don’t get it…you’ll see what I’m talking about in a minute). It never occurred to me that this gift may be a little much for just six months of dating. No sir, I went ahead full speed, bought all the necessary scrapbook type things to decorate with, and created a super cute, romantic gift. If someone, say my sister, were to ask me today if this was an appropriate six month gift, I’d probably say, “No, it’s a bit much. Why don’t y’all just go to dinner and a movie.”
But looking back, I’m really glad I made this for him (us) because it captures that first six months of us falling in love. Since this was my gift to Vishnu, he kept it for all this time, but I asked him to give it to me to keep for a while because I wanted to look through and read it again. Let me tell you, when I read through everything again for the first time (in years), it really took me back in time. I honestly laughed until my stomach hurt at some of our responses.
So, without further ado, here is my six month gift to Vishnu…

Other fun questions and responses…
Which TV sitcom character does Parita remind you of?
Monica from “Friends”
– great cook
– neat freak
– good-looking
– really nice in the craziest way
– a dork 🙂
Which TV sitcom character does Vishnu remind you of?
Vishnu reminds me of Chandler from “Friends” because of his sarcasm and sense of humor. He also reminds me of Tim Taylor from “Home Improvement” because sometimes he says things that are crazy, but he always does so with good intentions…just like Tim!
Vishnu, what is your definition of trust?
It is like love in that it is undying when you have it. It’s about giving a part of yourself so that the other person may see you as a whole.
Parita, what is your definition of trust?
Trust is giving a piece of yourself to someone and knowing that they will take care of it no matter what. Trust is also being able to let your guard down and let someone into your world.
If you could rename Parita, what would you name her?
Apple. I really don’t know why. 🙂 I just see her being an Apple (not like that…someone named Apple)!
If you could rename Vishnu, what would you name him?
I would rename Vishnu and make him Dev. I just really like that name! (Note: Vishnu does not like the name Dev!)
And there are many more where these came from!!!
Well, I hope you enjoyed learning a little more about me, Vishnu, and our crazy relationship! So now it’s your turn! Are you as hopeless of a romantic as I am?! What is the silliest gift you’ve given to a significant other?

My boyfriend made a book for me for Valentines and I swear I couldn’t get through it without crying at every page. So happy you found your soulmate! 😀
Thanks, Jenny! One time, Vishnu said something really sweet to me, and I just started crying. LOL! He was so confused! I should have titled my post “Hopeless Romantic Cryer” 🙂
Thanks for the shout-out 🙂 and it’s ironic that you put up this post b/c I’m about to hit 6 months in a couple weeks. I’ll call for ideas, you hopeless romantic 😉 Love you and miss you tons!! <3
Wow, already?! Call me!! Love and miss you more! 🙂
This is so adorable! You remind me of the couple from “Slumdog Millionaire” 😉
I LOVE LOVE. My biggest fear and worry in life is dying without that ever truly happening for me again…because until you experience, you really don’t know the true meaning of life.
Hi! Thank you so much! And I agree with you 100%, love is very powerful, and I’m positive you’ll find it!
hey parita… love your blog, love reading it, love your outlook on life…. you are very positive and I love that.
🙂
Thank you so much! That means a lot!!!
What a cute story! I think that was a super thoughtful gift you made him. 🙂
OMG, Parita this is such a cute post.I loved reading all these details about you. Monica and Chandler, see you guys were meant to be together!
You look beautiful in all the pics!
Oh my goodness! That is so precious! Girl, I was the SAME way when I was little. I have just always known that I was destined to fall in love and be my best friend’s wife! I, too, even wrote to my future “boy” in a journal! I thought I was the only one in the whole world who did something like that. Thanks for putting a huge smile on my face! 🙂
We are destined to be “blends” because I honestly thought I was the only one who did crazy things like that too!
Cute gift! My friend did the same thing for her fiance (now husband) before they got married… 🙂
I’m pretty sarcastic and cynical, so on the outside, my feelings towards “love” sometimes sound the same. But I do appreciate it when I feel it- even if I’m sometimes hesitant to actually say it.
THAT. is. adorable. I love it!
This is the cutest thing ever!!! I’m definitely in love with love – but I’m not as creative as you! 🙂 Maybe I’ll steal this idea! It would be so fun to look back on!
So adorable! You guys are too cute. 🙂
This is so cute! I’ve done scrapbooks for boyfriends before. I’m definitely a hopeless romantic, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. 🙂
This is pretty darn sweet! I love that you think of each other as Friends characters 😉
Back then it was Friends (still is) but now we both feel that in 10 years we will be Phil and Claire Dunphy from Modern Family! 🙂
