Happy Sunday! Wow, I can’t believe how fast time is flying.
Well, I got to Boston just fine…kinda. Something funny always happens to me when I’m traveling, and yesterday was no exception. After picking up my two HUGE suitcases from baggage check (I also had a duffel bag and a laptop bag), I headed outside to wait for the rental car bus. At Logan Airport, each rental company has their own bus that takes you directly to their cars, so I got on the National one because when we rent cars for work we always rent from them. But, something just didn’t feel right to me. As we were approaching Terminal E, I got up and shouted in a panic, “I am so sorry, but I rented from Avis!!!” The reason something didn’t feel right was because I didn’t rent from National (long story)!!! There were probably about 10 people on the bus and all of them stared, a few laughed, and a couple said that the same thing has happened to them before. Talk about embarrassed, but at least I figured it out while we were still picking people up! The bus driver was very sweet and helped me unload my stuff, and then I waited for the Avis bus. While I waited, I called my mom and told her what happened…we were both cracking up because as you all will get to learn over time, this situation is very Parita. I am usually a pretty organized and put together person, especially when I travel for work. But there are those few times where I tend to get a little flustered and funny things start to happen. I hope this made you giggle or at least smile. 🙂 Come to think of it, maybe it was a “you had to be there” kind of thing! Regardless, I guarantee there are more stories to come, so get ready! LOL!
I was so happy to see some familiar faces yesterday, especially after being so sad about leaving my family in Arizona. A few of my coworkers and I met up for dinner in the city. We went to a place called Vapiano. It was a really unique restaurant! When you walk in, you are handed a “credit card” that you then take around to all the different stations (appetizers, pizza, pasta, paninis, etc). You order whatever you want from each station and are charged the amount of the dish on your card. Then at the end you “pay off” the final amount. I thought it was a really cool concept! I ordered the Verdura (vegetable) panini with Tomato soup on the side and was pleased. In my opinion however, the atmosphere beat out the food, but it was still pretty good. Sorry no pictures to share because I forgot my camera…oops! In my defense, I was exhausted and hungry!
So, I woke up this morning and felt a little gross, but I think I know why. I EAT TOO FAST! I always have. I know it’s better for you to eat slowly, but for some reason, I still eat every meal like someone who hasn’t seen food in a 100 years. And that is why I am taking on a Slow Down Challenge. I got the idea for this challenge from Tina at CNC as she took on a similar one a few months back. My goal is train myself to slow down while eating by putting my utensils down after every bite (kinda annoying), chewing thoroughly, not eating in front of the TV, etc. And for the next month, I will post daily updates on my progress. This will be good for me and those who dine with me…hahaha!
Well, have a great Sunday! Hope you get to do something super fun. 🙂
Do you eat fast? How do you get yourself to slow down? If you have any other slow down tips and tricks, please leave a comment. I need all the help I can get!
Yep, I always eat too fast too. I just try to remember to put my utencil down every few bites, drink, socialize with the fam a little, then lather rinse repeat until I’m full. Trying to pay attention to the taste, texture, etc helps you slow down a little too, as does not waiting until you are famished to eat.
Glad you had a safe trip. Sounds totally like something I’d do with the car rental…
I too am trying to work on slowing down while I eat. I try to just taste my food and enjoy my meal, take sips of water between bites, and pretend I have a lot of time before I need to be done eating. Good luck! 🙂
I always eat way too fast! Then, I always feel like I’m not full enough afterwards. THEN, it hits my stomach like a rock. Definitely need to work on that.
