So I know I said I wouldn’t be posting until tomorrow evening, but I couldn’t stay away! Blogging is addicting!
Today was my last official day being present in Tucson for work, and as a farewell gift, a co-worker got me a book (yay!) about discovering your inner strength! How perfect!! It’s called “Discover your Inner Strength – Cutting Edge Growth Strategies From the Industry’s Leading Experts,” and it’s full of real world strategies from experts in the development field. And the co-worker who gave it to me is one of the authors! Talk about excitement! I took this book as a sign that I needed to write about why I chose the blog name I did. So, here it is…
Myinnershakti (my inner strength) represents something very powerful to me. It signifies the importance of having a strong, loving relationship with yourself. This is not an easy feat…trust me! Up until now, I defined myself not by my own character and strengths, but by how I perceived myself to be as a daughter, sister, girlfriend, friend, employee, etc. I thought that if I could always be the best [insert relationship], I would be happy. However, the more I tried to be the best Parita for everyone else, the less fulfilled I felt on the inside, in my gut. Slowly, I started to realize that the relationship I really needed to work on was the one I have with myself. Don’t get me wrong, I still strive to be a good daughter, sister, girlfriend, etc. I love my family and friends! BUT, lately my efforts have revolved around figuring out what things give me myinnershakti and pursuing those.
So, to me myinnershakti is about…
…loving yourself and being your own number one fan
…giving yourself a break for not being perfect, as we are all a work in progress
…accepting that life is not always going to go according to plan, but that it has a way of working out
…eliminating negative self-talk from your life and injecting positive thoughts, emotions, etc. because you deserve it
…taking care of yourself, eating nutritious foods, and using your body to accomplish great things – not to lose weight, impress others, etc. but to be strong (mind, body, and soul approach)
…laughing until your stomach hurts, spending time with those who mean the world to you, and never having any regrets
This list is not all-encompassing because myinnershakti can mean different things to different people. We are all unique individuals with unique views, passions, and ideas. The one thing that we should all remember is to not stop ourselves from being happy and doing the things that enable us to build strong relationships with ourselves…life is too short. My hope is that this blog will inspire people to find the little things that make them happy and give them their innershakti and always remember that…

I welcome you to join me on this innershakti journey. I think it will be fun and life changing, so stay tuned… 🙂
It’s great that you gave your blog name thoughtful consideration. And I agree with your assesment in this post. I constantly wrestle with what I want versus what is expected of me.
