I have really been looking forward to this weekend because it’s my little cousin’s 10th birthday! Over the past 8 months, I’ve grown really close to my aunt (my mom’s youngest sister) and her family. It’s been so fun seeing them on the weekends and hanging out in Phoenix and Tucson!
When I got to Phoenix today, my aunt had already started making dinner…lasagna! I still learned a few tips and tricks along the way.
Tip 1: Mix ricotta cheese in with fresh spinach and add a couple of pinches of nutmeg (something simple that makes a huge difference). This mixture adds a fresh, delicious layer and complements the sauce well.
Tip 2: Add some seasoning to the cheese before you sprinkle on the lasagna. My aunt used garlic salt and black pepper.
Tip 3: Fresh veggies and veggie ground “meat” add great texture to bottled tomato sauce.
Tip 4: Sweet red wine pairs well with Italian food, especially lasagna. 🙂
Ok, I’m off to hang with the fam! My cousin’s party tomorrow is at a laser tag venue! I am SO excited because I will be playing. 🙂 I’ll fill you in on all the fun tomorrow. Good night!
I just found your blog through a comment on Carrots N Cake! This lasagna looks so yummy and super easy to make-I must try it!
Thanks for stopping by! And yes, it’s super easy…def try it out! 🙂
